When preparing the surface for SEM Color Coat application, it is crucial to ensure the surface is meticulously cleaned. We recommend using hot soapy water and SEM 39362 SEM Soap () to thoroughly scrub and rinse the surface, followed by blow drying or towel drying. Once dry, clean the surface with either SEM 38343 Vinyl Prep () or SEM 38353 Plastic Prep (). It is essential to note that if the surface is not clean, the product will not adhere properly. Additionally, for plastic surfaces, it is necessary to use a plastic adhesion promoter, such as SEM 39863 Flexible Bonding Clear () or SEM 38363 Sand Free (), and apply it per the manufacturer's instructions.

When applying the Color Coat, it is best to do so in light, even coats with 5-10 minutes of drying time between each coat. This method is preferable to applying a single heavy coat. Additionally, for added protection or to alter the sheen, one of Sem's clear coats, SEM 13003 High Gloss (), SEM 13013 Satin Gloss (), or SEM 13023 Low Luster (), can be applied.

After application, the product will be dry to the touch in approximately 10 minutes. However, it is important to note that the substrate should not be subjected to heavy abuse or abrasion for a minimum of 24 hours to ensure optimal results.
